Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund II Distributed to Students
Hondros College of Nursing (HCN) received funds distributed from the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund II (HEERF II). HEERF II is authorized by the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021 (CRRSAA), Public Law 116-260, signed into law on Dec. 27, 2020. In total, the CRRSAA authorizes $81.88 billion in support for education, in addition to the $30.75 billion expeditiously provided last spring through the Coronavirus Aid, Recovery, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, Public Law 116-136.
HCN received and distributed a total of $1,962,048.00 from the Department pursuant to the institution’s Certification and Agreement (CFDA 84.425Q) ((a)(4) Program) [for] Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021.
A total of 2048 of enrolled students were awarded Emergency Financial Aid Grants.
HCN used the following process to determine students who would be awarded an Emergency Financial Aid Grant with HEERF II funding and how much a student would receive.
• Enrolled students were evaluated for Title IV eligibility based on either a 2020/2021 FAFSA on file with HCN or self-certification of Title IV eligibility in the absence of a FAFSA on file with HCN.
• Title IV eligible students received one of two awards as follows
o Pell eligible enrolled students received $1,060;
o Non-Pell eligible enrolled students and students that self-certified received $500.
Financial aid grants for students must be used for any component of the student’s cost of attendance or for emergency costs that arise due to coronavirus, such as tuition, food, housing, transportation, books and supplies, health care (including mental health care) or childcare.
This is HCN’s final quarterly posting and covers all HEERF II fund expenditures.
